Meet and Greet
Bob & Connie Yates, Brandon Butcher!
This month we would like you to meet Bob and Connie Yates and their grandson – Brandon Butcher. They live at 512 North Washington Street in Conrad. Bob grew up in Moville and Dallas Center, Iowa, while Connie is a Conrad gal. Brandon comes from Marshalltown. While the Yate’s are not directly related to anyone at FPC, they wouldn’t mind being adopted by “any of the wonderful people at church!” Bob is retired from the John Deere plant in Ankeny. Connie worked for FedEx for 14½ years and the North Polk School District for 3½ years. Bob enjoys reading, golf and watching the Cubs and Bears. Connie is in to reading, golf, cooking and gardening. Brandon likes Tai Kwondo, golf, swimming, fishing and hunting. When it comes to their favorite movies, Bob likes “Country”, Connie enjoys “Fried Green Tomatoes”, and Brandon says “Star Wars.” Bob’s favorite music group is the “Box Tops”, while Connie likes “Lone Star”, “Black Hawk”, Eric Clapton and Bruce Springsteen. Their favorite food places are the “Chicago Speakeasy” in Des Moines, That Place, and “The Bear” in Ankeny. When asked about FPC, they said, “When we used to visit Conrad, Bob always said ‘That looks like a great church.’ So when we moved back here, there was no question about which church we were going to visit first. Everyone made us feel so welcome that First Presbyterian was the first and last church we visited. The music is phenomenal! There is so much talent for a small congregation. Every time we come to church we feel so blessed. It’s like coming home!” Check out her pictures in the fellowship hall and be sure to greet Bob, Connie and Brandon when you see them!

Marshalltown Men’s Chorus Here June 14th!
They’re back! The Marshalltown Men’s Chorus will be sharing in our worship service on Sunday, June 14th at 10:00 am. Joining us will be the congregation from the Conrad United Methodist Church. This is a great Sunday to invite a friend to worship, as we hear some great musical selections, including: “Amazing Grace”, “Shine Jesus Shine”, “How Can I Keep From Singing” and “Holy And Mighty” which is based on the hymn “Holy, Holy, Holy” and features shakers and conga drums. Let’s fill God’s house and share a great time together!
Invitation for FPC Women
The women of First Presbyterian – Marshalltown have issued an invitation to all our church women to attend their June Brunch which will be held on Thursday, June 4, 2009 at 9:30 am. The program will be “Fun With Origami” by Kay Stevick. Please contact Dorothy Beeghly if you are interested in attending.

Choir To Sing At The Iowa State Fair
The First Presbyterian Church choir has once again been invited to sing at the Iowa State Fair! We will be performing on the Anderson-Erickson Stage on Sunday, August 23rd at 10:30 am. We will not host a worship service in Conrad that morning. If you would like to share a ride down to Des Moines to hear the choir and enjoy the fair, please let Sue McLeland or a member of the Fellowship Committee know.
